How to Place Tissue Paper in Gift Bag?
Share
Giving a gift is a special gesture - and how you present it matters just as muchas what's inside. Tissue paper is the secret ingredient that transforms a plain giftbag into something that feels exciting, thoughtful, and beautiful. The good news?
It's incredibly easy to do once you know the trick.
Here's everything you need to know to get it right.
How to Do It
1. Pick Your Tissue Paper
Start by choosing tissue paper that works with your bag. You don't need to overthink it — just keep these ideas in mind:
- Match the bag's color for a clean, put-together look
- Go with a contrast if you want something bold and eye-catching
- Layer two or three colors for a fun, festive feel
Stick to 2–3 sheets. One sheet looks too thin; more than three gets bulky and hard to manage.
2. Stack and Offset the Sheets
Lay your sheets on top of each other, but don't line them up perfectly. Shift each one slightly to the side. This small trick makes a big difference — when you fan them out, the layers show and the bag looks much fuller.
3. Fold It Like a Fan (Highly Recommended)
This step is optional, but it makes your tissue paper look like it came from a real gift shop:
- Hold the stacked sheets together
- Fold them back and forth like an accordion, about 1–2 inches per fold
- That's it — this "fan fold" is what creates that gorgeous, blooming effect
4. Tuck It Into the Bag
Place the bottom of your tissue paper into the bag first. Let the top half spill out and over the opening. Don't push it all the way down — you want it to overflow, not hide inside.
5. Fluff It Up
Now for the fun part:
- Gently pull each layer upward and outward
- Spread the sheets in different directions so they look full and airy
- Step back and check — the gift should be completely hidden underneath
6. Add the Finishing Touches
Once you're happy with the tissue paper, you can add a little extra:
- Tuck curling ribbon between the layers
- Drop some shredded paper filler at the bottom to lift the gift up
- Attach a gift tag to the handle or nestle it into the tissue paper
